Getting Your Home Ready for Summer: Keep the Hot Air Out with Spray Foam Insulation

Posted on on March 11th, 2014

While the winter months are still upon us and those of us in Connecticut and the northeastern US have seen quite a number of snowstorms, it won’t be long before the warmer weather arrives. Although many of us look forward to the spring and summer, it’s important to ensure that your home is ready for the hot temperatures that come with

When the temperature really heats up, you’ll want your home to be a cool refuge. Though many equate insulation with staying warm in the winter, did you know that your home’s insulation can also keep you cool in the summer? During the warm months, foam insulation helps keep the cool air inside and the hot air out.

Ensure your home insulation is effective

Did you feel any drafts in your home when the weather got colder? Were your floors cold? Did every room have a different temperature? Did your utility bills seem much higher than average (even considering the inordinately cold winter we’ve had)?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you may be dealing with ineffective home insulation. Poor insulation systems allow air to leak in and out of your home. This results in less comfort and higher utility bills. And when those 90 degree days come, the costs will really start adding up.

Use spray foam insulation to keep your home cool

An effective system like spray foam insulation creates an air barrier between your home and the outside, helping to keep the cool air in and the hot air out. Spray foam is used to fill gaps and stop leaks that force your air conditioning to work harder.

If you’re unsure if air is making its way out, check for any cracks or holes behind knee walls, attic hatches, open soffits, plumbing vents, wiring holes, basement windows and doors, and anywhere else that seems likely to have a leak.

Your attic’s insulation is the most important component

During the warm months, the majority of the heat gain in your home occurs through the attic, since the sun heats your roof. While insulating your attic is important, since most homes typically lose air there, this can happen to any room. Therefore, it’s important to ensure each room is properly insulated.

As an experienced spray foam insulation company in CT, Good Life Energy Savers understands the importance of well-insulated homes and works to provide customers with added comfort and savings using our services.

Work Was Done Well
"I got several estimates from several providers. The pricing seemed just ok with those other providers but something seemed off. Good Life came in and made sure that I was getting the correct amount of insulation (where the other service providers had under estimated) and helped me to get into a loan through the utility company for the cost of the insulation. Good life is a qualifying contractor for this and it saved me a lot of out of pocket expense. They came in and did what they had to do. They were professional and made sure the work was done well."

Don't Worry & Don't Hesitate
"I am about a few weeks out of my exterior wall insulation, attic spray foam and garage insulation. I feel the big difference in my home. My home is warmer and holds the heat. Tom was very straight forward and upfront. He was my point person for the three day project. He was exceptional. From the initial quote to project completion. After the completion of the insulation, I experienced a strong and significant spray foam smell coming through my bathroom AC flex duct. Tom asked Mike, his operation manager, to come out and check it out the next day. There turn out to be a large hole in my duct. And he fixed it without hesitation. Plus he accidentally broke a spong holder and gave me money for it. I was very please to report the smell instantly disappeared. Also the back office Lindsay and Jeanine who helped me with the the paperwork was phenomenal. Very impressed with the efficiency and diligence. Overall, cannot recommend enough. Don't worry and don't hesitate."
